Prerequisite: Foods I
GRADES 11-12 ELECTIVE 1 CREDIT SEMESTER
This course will broaden the student’s understanding of the science of food, weight control, and foreign foods, and will include meal management and consumer skills. Entertaining and gourmet cooking will be explored.
EARLY CHILDHOOD: 2014
Prerequisite: Child Development/Parenting
GRADES 10-12 ELECTIVE 1 CREDIT SEMESTER
Many individuals choose a vocation that involves working with children. The focus of this class will be the developmental tasks and needs of toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children, and related careers. Information is presented to help students considering a career in childcare and/or early education successfully meet the unique challenges they may face in these and related vocations. Many educational concerns, ranging from child abuse to substitute child care to children’s education needs are explored. Students will learn how to promote interactions that are enjoyable, supportive, encouraging and rewarding.
INDEPENDENT LIVING: 2024
GRADES 11-12 ELECTIVE 1 CREDIT SEMESTER
This elective one semester course is designed to help student develop a plan for life after high school. Topics to be researched, discussed and put into practice: Self-Discovery, Goal Setting, Career Research & Two Job Shadows, Financial Literacy, Health and Wellness, Options After High School, Moving Out, and Volunteerism. A lot of this class is based on what you as future members in the workforce want and need to know, so discussion is a very large part to the class and is encouraged.
